When these arrived we loved the "look" of the lights, then we immediately turned them on, fit them (come with a couple of different size attachments), popped them on to our deck rail and that same night they were brightly lit! These solar fence post caps were very easy to install, and they look great on the 3 posts of my white pergola. That is the end of my praise!
After 6 months in Savannah, even with all the sun, the lights are out after about 5 hours of darkness. I have an $8.00 post light within 10' of these lights and it still produces some light after about 12 hours of darkness! The Pine Tops cost me $18.00 more each. Fortunately my wife retires while the lights still have some light and I have not had to suffer her wrath for being stupid.

Got this great coffee machine for my birthday. Used it at the office for about 4 months - everyone loved it. Took it with me when I moved to DC. All was good, new friends loved it.

All of a sudden - after making a few coffees this morning - the handle is stuck and the unit will not open or operate. No obvious way to open it up to repair - all I can do is hope for warranty coverage? Will see...

This machine is just as awesome as all of the other reviews I've read. Although the pods are not as cheap as buying a pound of coffee in a bag, I am still saving a fortune on espresso and on time. I was skeptical about a pod machine being just as good as a regular espresso machine but it is!!! My favorite is the ristreto. It is just as good as the ristreto shots I get from my favorite coffee shop down the street (but now I don't have to pay $2.75 for a shot). I did all of the math and with an espresso habit like mine this machine and the pods will have paid for itself in 2-3 months time.

Nespresso machines are pretty cool IF you like how they're easy to use, clean and don't make a mess.
A few things to keep in mind...
1. you SHOULD only buy your nespresso pods from their website, otherwise risk the chance of being ripped off.
2. IF you are worried about the environmental aspect of wasting aluminum pods left and right, there are devices that allow you to repack your used pods, haven't done that yet.
3. The espressos are weak and watery tasting. If you want "real" espresso, get a "real" espresso machine that does not use pods such as Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine or Saeco 00354 Aroma Espresso Machine, Stainless Steel or Gaggia 14101 Classic Espresso Machine, Brushed Stainless Steel
Compared to "real" machines, Nespresso will give you a consistent espresso, albeit average espresso at best. If you are okay with maintaining an espresso machine, getting a grinder and learning to balance water temp, grind size, tamp strength, etc...then skip the nespresso...If you didn't understand what i meant by tamp or grind size, then get the nespresso.
This was a gift. I prefer my rancilio as far as taste and strength and caffeine kick, but for ease nespresso is okay. I'd say 2-3 nespresso pods gives me the caffeine kick of one of my rancilio espressos.

So for ease and okay espresso get this or a similar machine
If you can or want to be able to appreciate a fine espresso or appreciate the different types of coffee (and i don't mean latte, machiatto, espresso, drip) like wines or if you are a purist when it comes to espresso...Get something else...with the other machines as mentioned, you can with practice, get an espresso that is almost like an airy molasses with a caffeine kick...
If you are going to make iced-coffee drinks or such other nonsense, just get any cheap espresso machine that comes attached to a drip coffee maker cause it doesn't matter what the espresso tastes like if you're just going to bury it in sugar, cream and milk...

Made in the USA...in Oregon? Not entirely...

After having a Gerber (another Portland-based multitool company) Suspension for several years, and being sorely disappointed in the durability of THAT device (when the knife blade snapped off in my hands while working on my car door), I decided that I should try a Leatherman since it's what all the rough 'n' tumble construction guys I've known swear by. I spent a lot of time combing the internet for product reviews and video demonstrations of the several multitools I was interested in. This particular item won me over the SOG PowerLock and PowerAssist series multitools for the simple fact that an actual set of driver bits was included in the deal. SOG multitools require an additional purchase of the socket and bit driver set in order to have this functionality, which I am specifically wanting in my next multitool.

Boy was I disappointed when the Leatherman Wave arrived and I got it out of the packaging! No sooner did I deploy the built-in lanyard ring than I had discovered that doing so loosened up all the other tools inside that part of the handle such that they all kind of flop around when the pliers are deployed. You can hear them rattling around when the tool is fully closed with nothing deployed. The lack of proper tension in the joint also casues the scissors not to function properly. Noteworthy: these internal instruments ARE NOT SOLID STAINLESS STEEL AND NEITHER IS THE RULER, but one of those kinds of cheap, air-infused-whipped-in-vat-while-molten metals that manufacturers seem to be so fond of these days because they're inexpensive and most people don't even notice the corners being cut in the manufacturing process.

To fix the issue of the loosened tools myself, I would have to go out and buy a set of tamper-proof torx bits (2 actually, since one bit would be needed on either side of the screws holding the "tool" together). Leatherman doesn't really want you working on your own tool (hence the tamper-proof as opposed to standard torx). SOG, on the other hand, uses standard, easy-to-obtain bits and parts for disassembling and customizing their tools. For the Wave, I don't really want to buy sets of specialized tools only for working on my multitool, so this one goes back in the mail. Also, the bit driver set included is heavy on the square bits and only includes one size Phillips bit (the default bit installed in the tool) and one size Torx bit. Not really adequate for my needs.

It's kind of hard to argue with the demonstration videos on SOG's site where they show you that the wire cutters will go through a penny or washer. After a close inspection of the Leatherman Wave, I can tell just by the quality of the metal the cutters are made of that there's no chance of anything by Leatherman being able to make the same cut without serious damage to the tool.

Guys - and gals if you're shopping for your husband or boyfriend (or even yourself!) - from a small woman with only moderate upper-body strength who does only light duty handiwork around the house or on the car: DON'T BUY A LEATHERMAN!

As for me, I'll be ordering an SOG next time.


Leatherman 830657 Review by Ready2Fly

Today I received the Wave which comes with the extra set of bits- (Amazon exclusive) which (at the time of this writing) costs less than the regular Wave without the extra set of bits. First let me just say that The Wave multitool itself is excellent and deserves 5 stars however the finish on this particular "Amazon exclusive" version is lacking. It almost looks like it was used, refurbished or a factory 2nd although there's no indication on amazon item's page or the item's box. The multitool is a little scratched up in few places and there was dirt/dust inside the pliers. Also, the folding action is not as smooth as I had hoped it would be. This item came factory sealed so I doubt that it's a customer return. The scratches don't take anything away from the function of this multitool, I just expected a better condition for it being "new" and if I decided to give it as a gift. I will keep and use it and see how it holds up. Just wanted to give people heads up who think they're getting a good deal here on this Amazon-exclusive Wave with the extra bit set.

No instructions were included. So after some searches on the internet, I decided that instead of removing all the ATV fenders & panels to reinstall the whole new cable, I just cut the cable and spliced it in the dashbboard/headlight assembly. Since I purchased this item only because the switch itself was broken, I didn't need to replace the whole cable all the way to the contactor box.
Worked great, saved hours of work.

We purchased this (large) play mat 2 months ago when my baby was 4 month old. It was delivered fast. I like the product right after I opened the box---the color and graphics was beautiful, the foam was supportive and soft, and it didn't have any bad smell. My baby loved playing on it. I felt comfortable lying on it, too. At first I thought it was a bit expensive, but now I think it's totally worth it!

I ended up ordering this because I already had a 3.5 amp electric impact wrench from Canadian Tire. But that thing couldn't make any bolts budge. So I ordered this on Wednesday and got it Friday via Prime. I was in the process of replacing suspension at all 4 corners on a new (to me) 2002 VW Golf. The suspension components I was removing were original, so all of the bolts had been on there for about 9 years. I did the first 3 corners manually, with a breaker bar and a long piece of black iron pipe to get leverage. That was a very stupid idea because I ended up screwing up my left elbow joint as a result. And I'm left handed. Not good!

After a lot of hemming and hawing, I decided that spending the money on this impact wrench would be cheaper than screwing up other body parts. So Saturday morning, I started working on the last corner, the driver's side of the car. This involved removing very rusty bolts on the lower control arm and the bottom strut mount. On the passenger side, the lower strut nut was a big part of messing up my elbow joint. I put this tool with an 18mm socket on the lower strut nut and counterheld it with an 18mm box combination wrench. I actually started the wrench off in the wrong direction and thought it didn't have enough power to remove the seized nut... But after a few seconds, I realized it was going the wrong way! So I put it into "REVERSE" (works better that way) and put it back on the bolt. Pressed the trigger and it still didn't seem to be doing anything. But I gave it about 5 seconds and it blasted the nut off like it was nothing! I was impressed! I then put it on the front control arm bolt and it blasted that bolt off immediately. Same thing with the rear control arm bolt. Keep in mind that the control arm bolts are torqued to 52 ft-lbs + 1/4 turn at the factory. That coupled with 9 years of road salt made for some very rusty hardware. But the 9072-20 handled them without a problem.

So while I wasn't happy with spending the money on it at first, I'm glad I did. I'll be tackling the suspension on my wife's 2000 Jetta soon. With the 9072-20, I'm a lot less stressed about how difficult it will be and how long it will take because this thing will make your life a lot easier if you're doing car repairs on a car that lives in a salty area. I also recommend the 1/2" Ingersoll-Rand impact socket set that Amazon sells, those are some good sockets.

As others have said, my complaints are the lack of a brake mechanism, and also the backwards forward/reverse switch. But other than those two minor things, it's great! So buy it if you want a tool that will make quick work of seized fasteners.

One last thing - Make sure you wear ear and eye protection when operating this thing. It's very loud when operating, and it's always easier to buy new safety glasses than it is a new eye ball (or two) if something comes flying off.


Milwaukee 9072-20 Review by Auto Worker

I was kind of skeptical about an electric impact wrench, knowing they are not quiet as powerful as the air tools. But I had no trouble at all taking the lug nuts off my wheels which were torqued at 100 FP. As with any impact wrench, I would not recommend of course installing anything with it due to over torqueing and maybe stripping a bolt or nut. Also, get off your wallet and buy some good American made sockets. I've had the imports crack on me.

I bought this as a spare remote for my Directed Electronics Python car alarm (I don't have remote start installed) installed back in 2008. This Viper remote looks very similar to my Python remote (other than the different names stamped on the top, the other obvious difference is that my Python remote is black while the Viper is dark blue). Both are Model 7701V and my local installer got the Viper to accept the programming. So make sure that the back of your remote has Model 7701V stamped on it.

Note: If you have two remotes and if the remote that you are not using is in range, it takes about 20 seconds for it to receive the lock/unlock status from the car.


Update April 9, 2011. After almost three years of use, one side of the plastic belt clip hinge broke. I contacted Directed and they sent me a replacement at no charge.

That is customer service!

It's so nice that it's not filled with things that should just NOT be in formula.
No ingredients are purchased from China.
Contains no palm oil.

I also am impressed that they don't use corn syrup to sweeten their formulas. It's brown rice syrup which is a better carbohydrate than most use.

In response to no added DHA/ARA this is found on their website so it is not lacking.. and who wants DHA/ARA made by martex which is derived from laboratory-grown fermented algae and fungus and processed utilizing a toxic chemical, hexane anyway?

Baby's Only Organic� pediatric formulas contain two essential (precursor) fats: Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA) and Linoleic Acid (LA). Alpha-Linolenic and Linoleic fatty acids are called "essential" because the human body cannot make these fats and therefore it is essential to derive them from food sources. Alpha-Linolenic Acid is an omega-3 used by the body to make Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). Linoleic Acid is an omega-6 used by the body to make Arachidonic Acid (ARA). DHA and ARA are called "non-essential" fatty acids because full-term, healthy infants, children, and adults can manufacture these from Alpha-Linolenic and Linoleic fatty acids.

NO GMOs, good ingredients. I feel comfortable supplementing my infant's diet with this. The only drawback are the soy ingredients (oil and lethicin- but both are organic). I try my best to keep my children (and the rest of my family) away from soy because of the mal effects of soy phytoestrogens, but it is nearly impossible if using a manufactured food.

Just to clear up some confusion here is the quote from the manufacture's website:

"Baby's Only Organic� Dairy-based Toddler Formula contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and linoleic acid (LA), the fatty acid precursors for Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Arachidonic acid (ARA)."

Conversion of ALA and LA by the body to the more active longer-chain metabolites is inefficient: 2-5% for DHA. So while adding ALA to your child's diet is helpful it is not a complete substitute for the ARA and DHA found in breast milk (of course no formula can match breast milk).

If you want to use this brand of formula you should consider adding DHA and ARA some other way. This same company makes a supplement called "Baby's Only Essentials� DHA & ARA" and there are others on the market.
