Got this great coffee machine for my birthday. Used it at the office for about 4 months - everyone loved it. Took it with me when I moved to DC. All was good, new friends loved it.
All of a sudden - after making a few coffees this morning - the handle is stuck and the unit will not open or operate. No obvious way to open it up to repair - all I can do is hope for warranty coverage? Will see...

This machine is just as awesome as all of the other reviews I've read. Although the pods are not as cheap as buying a pound of coffee in a bag, I am still saving a fortune on espresso and on time. I was skeptical about a pod machine being just as good as a regular espresso machine but it is!!! My favorite is the ristreto. It is just as good as the ristreto shots I get from my favorite coffee shop down the street (but now I don't have to pay $2.75 for a shot). I did all of the math and with an espresso habit like mine this machine and the pods will have paid for itself in 2-3 months time.

Nespresso machines are pretty cool IF you like how they're easy to use, clean and don't make a mess.
A few things to keep in mind...
1. you SHOULD only buy your nespresso pods from their website, otherwise risk the chance of being ripped off.
2. IF you are worried about the environmental aspect of wasting aluminum pods left and right, there are devices that allow you to repack your used pods, haven't done that yet.
3. The espressos are weak and watery tasting. If you want "real" espresso, get a "real" espresso machine that does not use pods such as Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine or Saeco 00354 Aroma Espresso Machine, Stainless Steel or Gaggia 14101 Classic Espresso Machine, Brushed Stainless Steel
Compared to "real" machines, Nespresso will give you a consistent espresso, albeit average espresso at best. If you are okay with maintaining an espresso machine, getting a grinder and learning to balance water temp, grind size, tamp strength, etc...then skip the nespresso...If you didn't understand what i meant by tamp or grind size, then get the nespresso.
This was a gift. I prefer my rancilio as far as taste and strength and caffeine kick, but for ease nespresso is okay. I'd say 2-3 nespresso pods gives me the caffeine kick of one of my rancilio espressos.
So for ease and okay espresso get this or a similar machine
If you can or want to be able to appreciate a fine espresso or appreciate the different types of coffee (and i don't mean latte, machiatto, espresso, drip) like wines or if you are a purist when it comes to espresso...Get something else...with the other machines as mentioned, you can with practice, get an espresso that is almost like an airy molasses with a caffeine kick...
If you are going to make iced-coffee drinks or such other nonsense, just get any cheap espresso machine that comes attached to a drip coffee maker cause it doesn't matter what the espresso tastes like if you're just going to bury it in sugar, cream and milk...
